Saturday Somethings

Today has been very uneventful. Which is good. I did go to the pool for about two hours but it is just tooooooo hot --95 degrees. Had an appointment to have my haircut, colored and highlighted. Love the cut and color but not happy with the highlight job. My stylist has always done very good but this time --- she and I will have to talk. Dianne and I went to Olive Garden for lunch/dinner combo around 3:00. I love the Venetian Apricot Chicken (and it is actually low fat). We talked about our New York trip.
Emily and Susan should be home late tonight from Edisto Beach! I have really missed them even though I have talked to them a couple of times. Just knowing they were gone.

Church tomorrow --I need me some Southern Hills family. I did not attend Wednesday services because I was in Dickson visiting Aunt Marie and Uncle Russell who are not doing well and Carolyn.

Until next time......Surround yourself with what you love: whether it is family, pets keepsakes, music, plants and hobbies, whatever. You home is your refuge.

Monday Musings

I'm back to blogging!!!! Life is too short not to blog, right? I have had a lot of sewing to do and as usual the time caught up with me. Work is going well. Amanda had her baby girl, Addison, on May 28 so she will be out until September. Misty leaves on July 2 to have little Jake on July 8 and will return the first of October. Just in time for my New York City trip.
The weather has been really hot. I haven't had time to go to the pool and I really need some sun -- vitamin D deficiency and also B12. Get these totals up and maybe I will not feel so tired all the time. Maybe I am just lazy also. Naw --- no way.
Jennifer and Trey Lloyd's wedding was beautiful.
Liz, Laff and Emily just got back from San Antonio --- yes I went and fed Callie the cat once while Emily was gone! Now Emily and Susan are headed to Edisto Island for about a week.
Wish I was going!!! But, alas --- I need to get busy here, cleaning and ironing to do and yes some sewing also.

Until next time . . . . .It is not the outlook but the uplook that counts. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. . . .Heb 12:2

Feeling Blessed and Sad

Yes, it is possible to feel blessed and sad at the same time. I was on vacation last week and spent the week at the nursing home with Mrs. Marlin (Ava). I have loved her for a long time and her family. She passed away very peacefully on Thursday night May 28th. I am a better person for having this wonderful lady in my life and I am truly blessed because I was loved by her.
This entire family --- Gene, Diane, Amanda, Jennifer, Jesse and I think even Will and Caroline (who I got very close to this week) I believe love me. You see, I would have been a part of this family nine years ago---- Jimmy and I were going to be married in August of 2000. Sadly, an untimely death took him in April 2000 --- cryptogenic cirrhosis of the liver (unknown liver disease). Yet this family has always treated me as a family member anyway. So while my heart aches, I know Mrs. Marlin is in a better place than I and I can only live a life to be with her, my parents and Jimmy some day. I am blessed because I am loved by her family. I spent everyday with Gene last week --- good times during a difficult time. Diane was getting things together for Jennifer's wedding this Saturday --- I am sure MeMaw will be looking down on her.

Back to work this week -- -it has been good for me. A new baby here --- Amanda delivered little Addison last week. Now Misty will soon have Jake!!!

Until next time. . . . . The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

Simply Saturday

Not much happening today. There is a lot I need to be doing, just not doing it!!!!
Humpty Chadwell passed away last Sunday, May 10 after a very short illness and his service was on Wednesday. This family is so very dear to me.

Penny and Chris are here from Michigan and we are suppose to meet at Pancho's in Spring Hill tonight --- depends on how my foot is feeling --- I am having a flare up of gout -- very painful, yet much better than Thursday and Friday.

The Ladies Retreat was this weekend but I did not get my money in on time and then I probably would not have been able to go with the painful gout anyway. I am really needing my dose of Southern Hills Church tomorrow though. It is always very uplifting and encouraging and just gives you that dose you need to get you through life, then get back there on Wednesday for some more.

Until next time ..........It takes less time to do a thing right than to explain why you didn't.

Monday Musings

Mother's Day was yesterday and even though my Mother is no longer with me I still think of her every day. I hope all the mothers I know had a wonderful day. Emily gave me a card. Susan bought my lunch on Saturday. Liz bought flowers for the cemetery and I took them there on Saturday. Yesterday I went to Marie's for lunch and then to visit with Mrs. Marlin for awhile and then on to NHC to stay with Dianne and Humpty for awhile. Humpty passed away about 10:00 last night. He was never in pain, how fortunate. He and Marie were married for 63 years!!! My heart just breaks for this family who are all so very close.

The weather is pretty today, finally no rain!!! Not much to report. Will check in later.

Monday Musings

Gayle thinks it is time for the rain to stop! Sure we need rain but why do we have to get so much at one time for soooo many days in a row. My feet have been wet for four days now. We will be wanting some of this in July when there is no rain. Don't get me wrong, I know God knows what he is doing and maybe he does this to make me sit up and take notice of things around me. Believe me I watched some robins splashing in puddles (lakes) of water at Marie and Humpty's yesterday. How long has it been since I noticed that??? The grass is very green, wet but green. The buds and colors are brighter, wet but brighter. And, I guess one of the best things is the air quality is much better. We can all breathe much better and the allergies are better and the migraine gone. Okay, the rain , all of it, was a good thing. Thank you for rain.

I spent some time with Emily Friday which was very good. She actually had to borrow my car for a little while. Then Friday night we had pizza with Dianne at Marie's.

Until next time . . . . . . ..The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

Finally Friday

May 1 already!! Things are calming down. . . .except the weather. Outside it is rather frightful today!! Wait, is that a song? Dark, dark clouds again (of course, it is Friday).

I had my evaluation this week --- all went well, good job, etc....no raises this year. Thankful to have a job and one that I enjoy.

Extra prayers for the Chadwell family --- Humpty has cirrhosis and it does not look good for him. And the Proctor family --- Uncle Russell has bladder cancer. Carolyn facing this again.

Emily has my car today while her car is at Moody's. So my lunch was vending machine snacks!!!
Cheese crackers (yum) with peanut butter (yuck). And a Twix bar -- too sweet.
What I really want is a pizza.

I went to the Rice's last night but the only little Rice's there were Kelsey and Jake. It is always such a pleasure to be there anyway.

Until next time. . . . . .Learn to look for joy everywhere you go.
