Joyce and Dianne waited the Boathouse while I walked through trying to find Bow Bridge and I finally did. I want to go back to CP and cover another part of it.

New York, day 3, part 1

Sunday, October 11, 2009 --- our plans since we decided to go to NY was to attend St. Paul's Chapel on Sunday morning. St. Paul's is a very special place of worship and I cannot describe in words the feeling you get at this place. It is small, but oh so big.

First of all, after his inauguration (in NY at that time) George Washingon went to St. Paul's for the service. They still have his "box" there. Second, and perhaps what makes the quiteness, the peacefulness (is that a word) of this chapel --- St. Paul's is located directly across the street from Ground Zero.

On 9-11-2001 not one window was shattered, cracked or moved!!! It became the place where the firemen, policemen and other rescue workers would go to rest. Like I said, this is a little history of St. Paul's, but the feeling of being there is ...........

These are some random pictures from New York. I have found I love to photograph architecture and things like that. Of course I never know how the pictures will turn out, but I love doing it.

New York City - Day 2

Lots of experiences with travel --New York taxi rides, subway rides, bus rides, open upper deck city sights tour rides. The Subway --- you see I am very claustrophobic, very. On this day we took the subway, but due to construction had to transfer to a bus due to construction where the subway goes under water (they say) and then back on the subway. My lucky day I suppose.

CONEY ISLAND

The Wonder Wheel --nope I did not ride it. Actually the park was closed except for some kiddie rides.

A hot dog at the famous Nathan's (I did not think it was so good, it was beef, however).

Then back to the hotel to get ready for our big night out. . . . . .

BYE BYE BIRDIE at the remodeled Henry Miller Theatre,

starring --get ready--- John Stamos! He was terrific!

The play was wonderful; however, this was also my niece's senior play ten years ago -- and it was terrific considering broadway vs high school drama. But, John Stamos!

Then on for a little more nightlife at Times Square.

This is definitely a fast paced city.

New York City -- Day 1

Where am I?


I am in the clouds on a plane headed to NYC!

Day one included shopping, shopping, and more shopping......lunch at "au bon pain" which seemed just like our Panera Bread. We shopped at Bloomingdale's, Barney's, Tiffany's, Lord & Taylor and even Walgreens (Dianne needed foot supplies). We had plans to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and eat at Grimaldi's but we were so tired and with rush hour we could not get a cab. We had dinner at the Salmon River at our hotel then went to our room and took care of our feet.

New York City is a place you need to visit at least twice because the first time is just too overwhelming.

More tomorrow. . . I am so glad I took all week off. . . .

Thursday's thoughts . . . .

Okay the house is clean, the laundry is done, the bags have been packed, unpacked, repacked, unpacked, repacked and I think it still weighs more than 50 pounds!!!! I am down to the bare necessities -- clothes, toiletries, everything! In less than twelve hours ---I'm leaving on a jet plane..... to New York City!!

Dianne and I first talked about this for her birthday which is in October in March and now we are ready. There will be three of us going, Dianne, Joyce and me. They have both been before but actually we have plans for things they have never done on any of their visits there.

Monday Musings

It is Monday, Oct 5 ---four more days until NEW YORK CITY!!! Yes, I am excited. Our schedule is full and I just hope we get to do it ALL. The Met, Guggenheim's, Central
Park, Boathouse Restaurant, Fat Witch Bakery, Coney Island, St. Paul's Chapel, Jekyll & Hyde, Five Points, Flat Iron Building, Times Square, walking the Brooklyn Bridge and then pizza at Grimaldi's (?), Lord & Taylor, the original Macy's, the theatre --Bye Bye Birdie. Whew ---- I'm tired just thinking of those few things on our list. Dianne has everything (she thinks) figured out for us. We shall see.

Reading --- if you get a chance read The Wednesday Letters, by Jason Wright. A quick read and a wonderful book. One I was totally surprised by the ending.

I have also read Resilience, by Elizabeth Edwards. Amazing woman.

Well, need to get some things done and early appointment tomorrow morning.
